Avoiding Poker Scams Online

In our world today, it seems that every individual loitering around the net can be a victim of scam. A lot of scammers are in the look out seeking for their next victim. The same goes with online poker. You should not be surprised to know that there are a lot of people who fall for online poker scams and end up having an empty hand and an empty pocket.

Poker is a game of trust, which is why you should not give your trust easily to someone you barely know, most especially when the topic is about money and financial transactions. There are a lot of online poker sites that may really appeal to you and convenience you that they offer the best online poker services, only to find out that they are just too good to be true. If you want to play poker online, it is best that you take a closer look on these scams happening around the web.

For example, there is this one scam loitering around the Internet today, it is called "side-bet" scam. Here, the player wagers on different poker table and make a private deal with their co-poker players. They hop from one table to another and they will make a bet with the other players for a hundred dollars. If the player loses in the round, the scammer will get $100, however, if the player wins on the round, the scammer will escape like no deal ever occurred between them. This is just an example, and not all side-bet is worth $100. this kind of scam is very common to most casino games online and most people fall for this, especially the new ones. To be safe, never agree with a bet that is not placed on the poker table.

Another online poker scam is first hand scam. This kind of scam is easy to avoid. In this, an acting poker player will convince his opponent that they will go all in, both of them during the first hand. Some opponent will just ignore this, but there are a lot who fall for this. The opponent will put down all his chips no matter what hand he is holding. On the other hand, if the scammer thinks that he is holding a poor hand, he will only bet on the minimum. This is actually a commonsense issue, so if you think you are holding a weak hand early in the game, you should not go all in.
